For Tanzania single entry e-Visa OR for American citizens going for tourism/leisure (who can only get multiple entries):

A passport-quality photo
A copy of your personal passport details. Be aware that your passport must have at least 6 months of validity after the estimated arrival date.
A copy of your airline ticket (departure from Tanzania).

Important Instructions

NOTE: Possession of a visa for the United Republic of Tanzania does not provide an automatic right of entry for the holder into the country. The immigration officers at the port of entry may refuse entry to any person if they think that such a person is unable to fulfill the immigration requirements or that such a person’s presence in the United Republic of Tanzania would be contrary to national interests or security.

Travelers must have their passport with at least 6 months of validity from the date of arrival and have 1 page available for the visa stamp.
The Tanzania e-Visa is only available to travelers whose point of entry into the country is one of the following: Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA), Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (AAKIA), Namanga land border or Tunduma land border.

IMPORTANT: If you are applying for a single entry Tanzania e-Visa, the purpose of your trip must be one of the following: Visit, Tourism, Leisure, Holiday, Attending Conference, Humanitarian and Charity Activities, Family Visit, or Health Treatment; and departure must occur no more than 90 days after arrival. American citizens are not entitled to apply for a single entry e-Visa, and must, therefore, apply for a multiple entry e-Visa. American citizens going on a leisure trip can only apply for Multiple Entry Tanzania e-Visas, as stated by this country’s authorities. The Tanzania Multiple Entry e-Visa will be valid for 1 year after arrival, for stays of up to 90 days Per Entry.

In November 2018, Tanzania introduced the e-Visa system to allow citizens of certain nationalities to apply online for a Single Entry visa to enter Tanzania. You will receive your visa stamp when you arrive at the Visa on Arrival counter at the port of arrival. The cost of the Tanzania single entry e-Visa is USD 100.00.
